On average a pool filter should run minimum of 8-10 hours per day. Your pool water needs to be turned over at least once in a 24 hour period. An average filter will do this in an 8-10 hour cycle. If your filter is undersized for your pool, you may need to run your system for 10-14 hours in order to turn your water over.
